The Head of Press Headquarter of

TV CHOSUN

 Joo Yong Joong

In a rapidly changing world, we invite you to the 2025 TV Chosun Education Forum, titled “Back to the Basics of Education,” where we reflect on the essence of education and discuss its ‘fundamental principles’.

Since its inception in 2021, the TV Chosun Education Forum has been held annually, now marking its fifth year. Over the past five years, we have explored various topics such as innovation in educational technology through science and technology, and strengthening the role of teachers. Yet, within the vast domain of “education,” many unresolved challenges still remain.

Despite numerous reforms in the college entrance system-from the days of academic achievement examination to the present-the collapse of public education remains an ongoing concern, repeatedly surfacing as a key agenda item in education reform. Even the question ‘Has there ever been a college admission system deemed truly successful?’ is difficult to answer.

The 2025 TV Chosun Education Forum brings together scholars in education, public administration, and economics, along with current and former educators with on-the-ground experience. Our aim is to better realize the new government’s educational goals and offer practical, well-rounded perspectives. This year’s forum will feature multifaced discussions by experts from various fields on issues such as the current state of educational finance, the decline in teacher authority and morale, the normalization of public education, and strategies for holistic education.

We hope the discussions at 2025 TV Chosun Education Forum will serve as a catalyst for meaningful educational innovation under the new administration and ultimately contribute to shaping the future of Korean society.

The Head of Press Headquarter of TV CHOSUN

Joo Yong Joong

Hi, everyone. Welcome to 2025 TV CHOSUN Education Forum.

Inside the rapidly changing world, TV Chosun 2025 cordially invites you to reflect on the essence of education and engage in meaningful discussion on its core principles.

Since its launch in 2021, the TV Chousn Education Forum has annually explored critical educational challenges facing our society, and this year marks its fifth edition.

Over the past five years, we have explored a wide range of topics—from education innovation driven by science and technology, to strengthening the role of teachers and restoring public education. Yet, the vast and complex issue of “education” continues to pose unresolved challenges.

The college admissions system has undergone constant changes over the past decades, yet the fundamental restoration of public education still remains a distant goal.

Each year, as the slogan of "education reform" is repeated, we find ourselves asking:

"Has there ever been a truly successful system?“

It is still a question we can not easily answer yes.

This year’s forum, held under the theme “Education: Back to the Basics,” originates from a critical awareness of the ongoing challenges facing our education system. Bringing together interdisciplinary researchers in education, public administration, and economicsm and the former and current teachers with firsthand experience in the field, the forum seeks to critically examine how the new government’s education policies can be realistically implemented in schools and classrooms.

The 2025 TV Chosun Education Forum will provide a comprehensive diagnosis of the current education policy system, funding structure, the restoration of public education, and the reinforcement of civic education. Together, we aim to explore new pathways for the future of education.

We sincerely hope that the discussions at the 2025 TV Chosun Education Forum will help set the right direction for Korean education, and prime the pump to shape the bright future of the nation.
